About Us

The St. George Reef Lighthouse Preservation Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. All people involved in the Society are volunteers who donate their time, energies, and/or resources to the preservation of one of America's most significant lighthouses.

Brief History

 

In 1986 Guy and Alice Towers brought together a group of individuals dedicated to our mission. In the intervening 35 years tremendous efforts have been successful in preserving the lighthouse.

Our Mission

 

1. To ensure the lighthouse remains in public ownership;

2. To secure, restore, preserve and protect this historical lighthouse and its artifacts;

3. To accurately interpret its history and to provide public access, physically when possible and digitally always.
